Every month, the Youth Justice Institute brings to you the work of prominent researchers in the field of youth justice! “Lunch & Learn” sessions are designed to be interactive, informative, and thought-provoking.
Session from Lyndon Cudlitz: As more juvenile justice agencies make long-awaited improvements in supporting the mental, social, and physical well-being of transgender/nonbinary youth, many have struggled with navigating interactions with families. The tension that can exist between a supportive facility and an unsupportive family can leave staff teams at a loss for how to proceed. Facilities are often unsure of how to best support youth when the family is unaware of their child's gender. This session provides tools for managing this balancing act, helps define priorities, and brings context to the feelings and needs of all parties: the facility, the family, and the youth.
This webinar session will only be webcast live.
