This dynamic training offers social workers an in-depth opportunity to enhance their understanding of the identities, experiences and needs of transgender individuals. Attendees will explore common life stressors, barriers to care, and how to meet the service needs of trans individuals, while also challenging social & political gender-based oppression. The training will address the roles of social workers in the potential medical and legal transition needs of clients. A portion of this training (presented by Parker Reid and Darren Cosgrove, LMSW, PhD candidate) will highlight micro & macro work with non-binary young people and share promising practices based upon a pilot study.
